Eastside Roots Community Harvest Fete - Sunday 4th October 2009 12.30 to 7.30pm - All Welcome!

Eastside Roots cordially invites you to celebrate Harvest time with a very special afternoon of fun & activities. We have live music all day, a range of exciting workshops & talks, kids entertainment, raffle, whole food cafe, games, and poetry. Please tell your friends & neighbours - be great to see you there.

 

 

 

 

'That'll Learn You' - Free Skill Swaps: 6.30pm meet for tea/cake/chats & 7pm to 8.30pm Workshop Wednesdays at Community Gardening Hub, Stapleton Road Train Station, Easton until 2nd September- All Welcome!

19th August: Wild Food Walk - Dave Hamilton, co-author of the 'Self-Sufficientish Bible' (see www.selfsufficientish.co.uk) will be giving a short talk about foraging for wild food and then lead a walk around Easton looking for food for free. Dave has many years experience & is happy to share his knowledge. You can also go on day walks in St Werburghs with Dave & his twin brother Andy, or if you visit Eden in Cornwall this summer he will also be running a series of weekend walks from there.  This will be very popular so please book by email nick@eastsideroots.org.uk or call 07810 806 354

26th August: Kite Making Workshop - make your own kite to fly with pride, just in time to take to Bristol Kite Festival in September. Donations for materials please.

2nd September: Gardener's Question Time & Winter Planting Tips -  A panel of professional gardeners & a Permaculture expert will be taking questions from the floor, sharing top tips & there will be a short winter growing workshop where you can take seeds/compost/pots for donations. Last one of the summer so this will be followed by a visit to the pub.

If you wish to offer your skills for summer 2010 or have requests for topics please get in touch, but if you cannot wait that long we are taking bookings for workshop leaders at our free Community Harvest Fete on 4th October 2009.

 

Acoustic Platform 21st August 7 til 9.30pm Community Gardening Hub, Stapleton Road Train Station, Easton - donations

Eastside Roots together with Medlar Productions are delighted to bring you the last Acoustic Platform of the summer. A delighfully intimate evening of acoustic artists from Bristol, great company, fresh baked pizza & jacket spuds in our clay oven, refreshments & cake (of course). Joe has gone the extra mile on the line up:

Troubadour Hook, David 'Pip' Taylor, Maayan Ash, One Star Awake (Sue Mara - ex Pink Froot). Big thank you to these muscians for playing for free - please support them by buying CDs or going to their gigs.

Eastside Roots will be running a stall & workshops at the following events:

 

Shambala Festival 28th - 30th August: secret location see www.shambala.org.uk

Bristol Organic Festival, Harbourside 12th - 13th September: Event organised by Soil Association. Eastside Roots, GroFun & Self Suffcientist Bible twins will be running workshops on both days, running planting sessions for children & their parents, selling plants and answering questions. Come find us in the Community Gardening area.

Bristol Festival, Harbourside 19th - 20th September: Introduction to Permaculture, talk about Eastside Roots and stall on both days, enjoy the music but pop in to say hello. Sign up as a member or volunteer.

Love Food, Gasworks 27th September: Hoping to be there but if not go anyway its a great day out for all the family.
