SPAN (Sustainable Production In Active Neighbourhoods)
The SPAN partnership project began in 2005 and was set up to investigate ways of improving support and information services to community groups, so that more local people will become involved in food production and consumption in their neighbourhoods. The partnership of five national organisations - Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, Community Composting Network, Garden Organic (Henry Doubleday Research Association), the Permaculture Association and the Women's Environmental Network - was funded by by Defra's Environmental Action Fund.
BEST (Bristol East Side Traders) is a not-for-profit company that aims to develop a thriving local economy in Bristol's inner city that benefits residents - as entrepreneurs, employees and customers.

Trinity Community Arts Centre (a community association formed to manage the Trinity Centre in Lawrence Hill Bristol) the other Eastside roots site is in the garden here.
We received help and support from the SCARMAN TRUST (now called 'Novas Scarman Group')- a major social justice charity at the cutting edge of tackling social disadvantage through social enterprise, innovation and positive impact and are now working with local social enterprise 2QAB to help us to develop the organisation.
