Educational Opportunities at Eastside Roots
We have lots of exciting training courses planned for 2009/10 from free one hour workshops to 8 week accredited courses.
Organic Horticulture Course at Trinity next 8 week block will start 17th September until 5th November. We are taking bookings now: call Tom on 07988 460373 or email t_daly@hotmail.com. This course is accredited through Bristol City College. Cost £25 unwaged or £50 waged. It will run every Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm for 8 weeks. Refreshments available.
Introduction to Permaculture - was a great success, if you are interested in attending an hours talk on Permaculture, or an Introduction course over a weekend or the full design course we can help you find a suitable course. We will also be running our own Introduction Course next year. Principles of Permaculture.
Permaculture - a system creating sustainable human habitats by following nature's patterns... will inspire, support & help you find solutions to take positive actions. Permaculture design draws together......organic & forest gardening, more holisitic approaches to health, community action & cooperatives, DIY sustainable building, land & resource use, alternative & appropriate technologies, local economies, trade & liveilhoods....and more.
Forest Garden Weekend - we want to create a forest garden up at the station in Winter 2009, so watch this space for more information on the courses we will run on this. Forest gardening is a Permaculture technique that mimics the productivity & sustainability of a forest but with a high design element ensuring all plants & trees are edible or beneficial.
'That'll Learn You' Free Skill Swaps - Every Wednesday from mid May to early September we run free skill swaps on a wide range of topics. If you wish to run an evening next year please get in touch. 12th & 13th October: Organic Food Festival at Harbourside, Bristol - Eastside Roots will be there to answer your questions plus Introduction to Permaculture talk, Introduction to Eastside Roots talk, planting activities for children & adults, plants for sale & much more.
Offsite training: Eastside Roots in association with GroFun are hoping to create food growing & gardening spaces in all Bristol Schools & even Nurserys. Together we can teach the next generation the joys of growing, how to be more sustainable and develop healthier lifestyles.
